Turkmenistan Introduces AI Into Single Window System for Export-Import Operations

Written on

The State Customs Service of Turkmenistan has announced the launch of artificial intelligence (AI) technology on the “Single Window for Export-Import Operations” web portal (tradebridge.gov.tm), effective June 1. The new service is expected to facilitate faster access to information on cross-border goods and simplify preparations for customs procedures.

According to the announcement, users will be able to use AI to identify commodity codes under the Commodity Nomenclature for Foreign Economic Activity, obtain preliminary information on required permits and authorizations, and calculate indicative customs duty rates for export and import transactions. The system operates in real time and is available in Turkmen, Russian and English.

The project was implemented by the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan in cooperation with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) as part of initiatives aimed at customs digitalization, strengthening regional connectivity, and advancing the concept of a “smart customs” concept.

The Single Window system was developed by the State Customs Service together with international partners and consolidates government services related to export, import and transit operations on a single digital platform. According to Turkmenistan’s official media, the system integrates services provided by 24 ministries and government agencies.
