Turkmenistan wins gold and bronze at VI World Nomad Games in Kyrgyzstan

Athletes from Turkmenistan got off to a successful start at the VI World Nomad Games, being held in the Kyrgyz Republic, bringing a gold and a bronze medal to the national team's tally on the first day of competition.

Turkmen athletes secured the top and third-place awards in traditional wrestling competitions in the super-heavyweight categories over 100 kilograms.

Our compatriots achieved their main success in traditional Turkmen wrestling. In the category over 100 kg, Annagurban Allaberdiyev confidently won the championship title. In the battle for gold, he defeated the host nation's representative, Kyrgyzstan's Asankeldi Nurkazy uulu, who took silver.

The second medal for Team Turkmenistan was brought by Kemal Kemalov, who took third place on the podium in the kurash competitions.

For their achievements, the winners of the competitions were awarded cash prizes of 100,000 som, silver medalists received 80,000 som each, and bronze medalists received 50,000 som each.

The VI World Nomad Games are being held from August 31 to September 6 in the city of Cholpon-Ata, bringing together participants from more than 100 countries who are competing in 43 ethno-sports disciplines. This large-scale international sports forum, held once every two years, plays a key role in popularizing on the world stage the cultural heritage, national traditions and customs of the peoples of Central Asia.
